A complete waste of oxygen

I'm so sickened by a report today out of New Orleans that I don't have words to describe it.

The father of missing toddler Ja'Shawn Powell confessed to murdering his son and led police detectives this afternoon to the boy's body, which had been dumped near a Central City playground, police said.




Ja' Shawn Powell, 2, had been reported missing late Friday night by his father, Danny Platt, 22, police said. New Orleans Police and FBI agents worked through the night and morning and secured the father's confession this afternoon, NOPD officials said at a news conference.

Platt, of the 2800 block of Baronne Street, is expected to be escorted to Orleans Parish Prison within the next hour. He will be booked with first-degree murder, police said.




Platt told police that he did not want to pay his outstanding child support owed to the boy's mother, according to NOPD Assistant Superintendent Marlon Defillo.

He didn't want to pay child support . . . so he killed his own child.

What spawned this inhuman monster? Is it even possible that he had a mother and father, like the rest of us?

May God have mercy on the soul of Ja'Shawn Powell, and receive him into His peace. As for Platt . . . I question whether there can be mercy for a crime such as his.
